Study on color change of synthetic type Ⅱa diamond crystals treated by electron irradiation

  • Type Ⅱa diamond crystals synthesized by using temperature gradient method were treated by electron irradiation through high energy electron accelerator. The samples were tested by colorimeter,Diamond View and FTIR. It is found that the initial colorless type Ⅱa diamond crystal changes into a pink color after the electron irradiation,and that there are some burning traces on the surface of the diamond. It is also shown that the color of fluorescence captured by Diamond View changes from light blue to golden.
